About
School of Brickology - Undergraduate Senior is a self-paced, free program designed for advanced bricklayers aiming to master professional standards, site coordination, and sustainable practices. This course provides in-depth training on reading and interpreting construction drawings, understanding brickwork symbols, scales, and specifications, and applying this knowledge to real-world projects. Participants will gain comprehensive knowledge of NHBC and LABC standards, British Standard BS 8000-3, and Eurocode 6, with practical guidance on snagging, inspection processes, and preparing for site inspections. The program covers essential site operations, including site setup, productivity planning, material scheduling, delivery and storage, and effective collaboration with scaffolders, joiners, and M&E trades. Professional skills are developed through modules on leading teams, site communication, toolbox talks, daily briefings, and record keeping. Health, safety, and environmental responsibility are emphasized, with lessons on RAMS, CDM regulations, waste reduction, sustainability in materials, and the use of low-carbon mortars. Learners will also explore technology in brickwork, such as laser levels, site management software, prefabricated brick panels, and modern construction methods. The course features case studies, practical projects, quizzes, and a capstone project to build a detailed cavity wall with an opening. The program concludes with portfolio preparation, certification of professional practice, and guidance for progression to the Masters level.
